Couple Story: Matthew & Elaine
How did you meet?
We met at college while folding laundry in the laundry room. A mutual friend introduced us and we became friends. We were friends for almost a year before it turned to romance.
Proposal story
We live near the beach and were walking on the boardwalk. Matt asked that we go down to the water and on our walk along the beach he proposed. After wards we walked back up to the boardwalk and entered a restaurant there where all of our friends and family were waiting to celebrate. It was a beautiful surprise and a great day to spend with people we love.
Details (theme, color, etc)
The theme of the wedding was rustic and bohemian. The guys wore a dark blue suit and girls were in maroon. It was fall so the room was decorated with pumpkins and rustic decor. The flowers were mostly green eucalyptus with white and maroon garden roses and some small light orange accents of garden roses. The girls wore flower crowns to go with the relaxed theme. There were about 125 guests and most things like the decor (burlap runners and leaf garlands) were DIY.
Best advice received
The best advice we received was to stop and enjoy the day at each minute you can because it goes by so quick!
Advice to give
Relax and remember a wedding day is just a day. Love and marriage is what will last forever.
Story of the day
It rained! Which put a damper on things, but fortunately it stopped just in time for us to have our ceremony over looking the Long Island sound outside. The ceremony was perfect with a string quartet playing music as we entered and exited. During the cocktail hour the bride’s uncle played acoustic guitar and sang. The food was amazing and abundant. The reception was extremely fun! The speeches were funny and kept everyone involved in the day. Everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves.
Favorite moment
My favorite moment was the first dance with my husband because we love to dance together.
Honeymoon plans
We just got back from an amazing trip to Thailand. We traveled all along the south of Thailand saw many different islands and did many excursions it was beautiful. We were also able to see many temples and the Buddhist culture.
