Capital Hill Engagement Inspiration 

Five years ago, when Katy was able to spend Independence Day celebrating in our Nation’s Capital is when the inspiration of this session began to germinate. That year Katy and her husband visited the Declaration of Independence and sat on the National Mall watching fireworks illuminate the sky with the Washington Monument in sight. This is a memory Katy will never forget.

As Katy has always favored July Fourth, Independence Day, over other Holidays; she was beyond excited to dream up a photo shoot that showcased July Fourth, and elegantly embraced the colors of our Nation.

The tablescape and dessert table were inspired by the American Flag. Instead of bright red, blue, and white, however, we opted for a deeper and more modern take on the colors of the flag. Burgundy, navy, and ivory were used to style the tables, while rich textures of velvet were choice for the chairs.

Independence Day fireworks helped to inspire our floral arrangements. We emulated fireworks with starlike thistle, two toned flowers, and even the shape of our bouquet. We hope that this session ignites your spirits as it did ours as we celebrate our nation’s birth.
